About us

OUR History

The Lake Hāwea Community Centre is an incorporated society as well as a registered charity. A local committee of volunteers  is responsible for overseeing maintenance as well as the daily operation at the Community Centre.

Prior to the latest building opening in 2013 the Hāwea Sports Centre was located on the site. The members of the Lake Hāwea Bowling Club were instrumental in initiating the building of the current facilities.

The land is owned by QLDC and leased to the Lake Hāwea Community Centre. Above picture taken Dec 2009.
